Unto us a Son is given — the son of the virgin, the Eternal Logos formed in flesh; He is Immanuel, not only on account of his miraculous conception, but because of his eternal generation, the Word, who was in the beginning with God, had glory with the Father from before the worlds and loved by Him, and through him created all worlds and all things. This person, the Father’s own Son, his only-begotten Son, is given, sent forth in the likeness of sinful flesh, released from his grip the form equal to God, condescended into the likeness of men, poor and inglorious, given to be our infallible Teacher of secrets, our fellow Sufferer in the pangs of flesh, perfect Mediator to God, almighty Saviour of the world, righteous Ruler, and final Judge.
