Transhumanism is the belief that humans will push beyond the boundaries of mortality and the confines of nature by merging with technology. The only thing new about this is the use of technology to achieve this goal. Humanity’s last attempt at transhumanism was at the Tower of Babel.

Instead of spreading throughout the earth to build God’s Kingdom, the post-deluvians disobeyed and coalesced on the plains of Shinar to create their own kingdom. Using twice-baked brick, they built the false mountain, each level smaller and higher than the one below it, and its top would fuse with heaven; they would be as gods.
Our tower is inverted, with the foundation built on the sandy point of our own minds, each layer broader and higher than the previous. At the top, the new city of Man made in his image, heaven on earth. Because of its narrow foundation, the height of its ambitions, and the increasing scope of its reach, it grows increasingly unstable and subject to tilt.
There will be another Babel.
